The
Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the
Toombs County Development Authority, the Montgomery County
Development Authority, and the Tattnall County Development Authority
has joined together to create the Tri-County Regional Entrepreneur
Support Team. The purpose of this team is to encourage and
support local entrepreneurs who want to start or expand a local
business.
The
Tri-County Regional Entrepreneur Support Team would like to
congratulate you on your decision to pursue the start-up of a new
business in our community. We realize that the entrepreneurial
spirit has and continues to keep America strong and can continue to
do the same for Toombs, Montgomery and Tattnall Counties.
The Tri-County Regional Entrepreneur Support Team is a
non-profit entity composed of local business people who have adopted
the mission
to:
"Promote and support entrepreneur development opportunities
in
order to create and retain high quality jobs and investment in our
local area."
The Tri-County Entrepreneur Support Team's services are advisory
in nature and include confidential guidance on:
- A Business Plan

It would be our pleasure to provide you
with a Business Start-Up Kit to allow you to jump-start your
business idea into a viable and profitable business. The
contents of the kit are as follows..
- A brief Tracking Questionnaire - Please complete this
questionnaire when you pick up your Business Start-Up Kit.
- Entrepreneur Development Process Flowchart - Outlines the
steps an entrepreneur proceeds through as they develop their
business.
- A Small Business Resource Guide from the Small Business
Administration.
- A complete list of Entrepreneurial Resources.
- Application for Assistance - To be completed for additional
support from the Tri-County Regional Entrepreneur Support Team in
the development of your business idea.
Chances are you will need the services of all three. An
accountant can help you set up your books to meet state and federal
regulations and assist you with tax information. If you plan
to name the business anything other than your own name, or if you
plan to form a partnership or corporation, you will probably need an
attorney. You will also need
a friendly banker to handle your accounts, as well as possible financing. Ask the Chamber for a list of accountants, attorneys and bankers.
If you plan to proceed without professional assistance, you can get
free information on naming your company and other matters from the
Secretary of State.
You will need to prepare a written business plan for two
reasons. First, it requires you to analyze the factors that
will mean the success or failure of your business; facts such as
opening costs, overhead, promotion and competition. Second, it
will help you secure investors or financing. Your business
plan will help you to determine your anticipated cash flow,
two important words if you plan to establish credit or borrow
money.
